Gina Ingoglia

Gina Ingoglia (1939–2015) was the vice president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Florilegium Society and author of more than 80 books for children. She was a graduate of Dickinson College and held an M.A. in publishing from New York University. In 1996 she received an honorary doctorate degree from Dickinson College. She also had a degree in landscape architecture from Rutgers University and studied design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Kansas State University. She also studied botanical art with Kevin Nicolay, Anne-Marie Evans, and Katie Lee. From 1987 to 1995 she wrote and illustrated "The Budding Gardener" column in Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Plants & Gardens News. She maintained a private practice in residential landscape design and was garden advisor to the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Gardens in New York City. Her illustrations have been published by Faber & Faber, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, and Disney Press, and she wrote and illustrated a young people's book on trees for Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The Tree Book for Kids and Their Grown-ups, which won the 2009 Garden Writers Association Gold Award.
