Photography Intern

Department: Digital and Print Media

Reports to: Director of Digital and Print Media

Hours and duration: 6-12 hours/week for 4 months

Paid Internship

Brooklyn Botanic Garden is one of New York City’s most treasured natural spaces and a vital botanical resource. In addition to its magnificent grounds and plant collections, the Garden is esteemed for its education, research, and community outreach programs. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden photography intern will help document BBG's collections and events, maintain BBG's digital image archives, and support visitor engagement on social channels including Instagram and Flickr.

Because BBG is a botanic garden, clear and accurate labeling of the plants depicted is as important as beautiful, high-quality images. Using institutional resources, the photography intern will correctly identify and label plant images and upload photographs to BBG’s plant database. Garden photographs will be used for the website and social platforms as well as for a variety of print and environmental materials. The photography intern will gain great real-world experience and portfolio material.
