About Prunus serrulata 'Ariake'

Meaning "dawn," this variety is thought to have been first introduced to the U.S. in 1912 in Potomac Park as part of the collection in Washington, D.C. Its single large flowers are white to pale pink; mature tree may produce an additional petal in flower centers.
