Spend time outdoors observing the many species of birds that live in or pass through our area on their spring migrations. Learn to identify birds and see how they fulfill their roles in the natural world. Classes meet at the locations specified. Car-pooling is available; when registering, please indicate if you will need a ride. Please bring binoculars and a bird guide. If a trip is postponed due to rain until the following day, you will be notified by phone the evening before the trip. When registering, please provide a phone number where you can be reached on Friday evenings.

BBG at Night: Yes, Virginia, There are Bats in Brooklyn!

Believe it or not, there are bats all over Brooklyn. Join this fun-filled evening walk and workshop about bats. You will hear bat echolocation, see them in flight, and learn about their key role in our survival on the planet today. Children above age 12 are welcome with an accompanying adult.

Life in a Flash: Butterflies & Dragonflies

Join this workshop to explore the short but fascinating lives of butterflies and dragonflies. After an introduction in the classroom, enjoy a leisurely walk around the lily pools and bordering gardens as you learn to find and identify common species and understand the important role of these delicate creatures. Children above age 12 are welcome with an accompanying adult.
