Trees and Saplings

Children get a head start on exploring nature in our Trees and Saplings program for three and four-year-olds, where young children and their caregivers discover the magic of the natural world side by side. Experience the Garden at full bloom and embark on an enchanting learning adventure with your little one! Our time together includes hands-on exploration in the classroom, nature walks around the lush summer Garden, storytelling, nature crafts, and planting seedlings to take home. Led by our wonderful instructors in an intimate class setting, both generations experience the wonders of nature.

Children's Garden

Help us close out our 95th growing season this fall in the Children's Garden!

Fall is a great time to garden: Gourds are growing, flowers are showing, and there is still time for seed sowing! Kids reap the rewards of bountiful harvests from the summer in addition to planting cool-season crops and preparing the garden for winter. Scholarships are available based on need; call the Registration Office at 718-623-7220 for information.

Seeds

For Pre-K and Kindergarteners (Four- and Five-Year-Olds)

Our youngest gardeners work communally in the KinderGarden plots to plant and maintain crops. Structured play, games, stories, cooking, and crafts introduce children to the wonders of the fall garden. Kids take home flowers and vegetables they have grown and harvested themselves. This is a drop-off program.

City Farmers

For 2nd Through 8th Graders

The City Farmers program is an opportunity for kids to grow food and flowers from seed to table. In the meantime, they acquire new skills, make lasting friendships, and explore the creepers and critters of the natural world. City Farmers work in pairs within small age-based groups led by an instructor, cultivating and harvesting a variety of late-summer and fall crops in their garden plot. Nature activities, science projects, storytelling, cooking, and crafts are part of an incredible learning experience.
