Programs For School Groups At BBG
BBG offers teachers a wide range of opportunities for exploring the Garden with your students. Lost among the myriad of options? Start here to determine which level of program support best meets your needs. Once you've selected the type of experience you'd prefer for your students, read more about the topics offered under that program heading. On page 14, we've provided a list of the NYC performance standards for science that are supported in our programs. Be sure to register as soon as possible to confirm the date of your visit. All programs are offered October through June and are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, programs will be held indoors.
School Workshops
School Workshops last from 15 to 2 hours and provide our most comprehensive educational experience. BBG education staff lead a classroom lesson, including hands-on explorations of plant materials. Each student works in the education greenhouse to pot up a plant or seeds to take home, along with care instructions. Volunteer Garden Guides lead students in small groups through BBG's plant collections on the Garden grounds and/or in the Steinhardt Conservatory, supporting the workshop topic. Pre-visit materials are provided and include background information, classroom activities, and discussion topics.
Cost: $140 per class.

Exploration Tours

Garden Guides tour with students in small groups through BBG's plant collections on the Garden grounds and/or in the Steinhardt Conservatory, following the selected theme. Topic descriptions are on page 10.
Cost: $115 per class.
