Prunus x sieboldii

One of the earlier introductions of Oriental flowering cherries, this variety carries the Japanese name of Takasago, which means "good health and long life." Plant hunter Philipp Franz von Siebold introduced it into Europe in the 1860s. Light pink flowers are semi-double, quite large, and freely produced. In autumn the leaves turn a pleasing shade of red.
