Prunus serrulata 'Uzuzakura'
Introduced to western gardens as 'Hokusai' in 1866 by Philipp Franz von Siebold, this variety was named for Japan's famous artist, Hokusai Katsushuka (1760-1849). The copious flowers of this popular form are shell-pink and semidouble with from 7 to 12 petals each.
