John Cody

John Cody was born in Brooklyn and began sketching scenes from nature when he was eight years old. At five he encountered a large colorful moth that would begin his lifelong interest in the saturniid family. He trained in medical art at Johns Hopkins; worked as medical illustrator for five years at the University of Arkansas Medical Center; and went on to medical school. Dr. Cody's numerous exhibitions have included one-person shows at the American Museum of Natural History, New York and the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. His many awards and honors include a Governor's Arts Award in 1997 for Individual Artist Lifetime Achievement Award in the State of Kansas.
