Patricia Kernan

Patricia Kernan grew up immersed in an environment of natural history and art. This experience, along with innate artistic and biological interests, led to a career as a natural science illustrator. After completing studies at the University of Wisconsin and Rhode Island School of Design in scientific and technical illustration, she made several working trips to the tropics before joining the research and collections staff of the New York State Museum in 1988. In this capacity she illustrates all subjects of natural and cultural history, curates the illustration collection, and the international exhibit Focus on Nature. Patricia is the cofounder of the COM.EN.ART artist-in-residency and a founding member of the American Society of Botanical Artists.
