Cupressus arizonica is native to southwesten North America, from western Texas and southern California through northwestern Mexico. The medium-size evergreens grow 30 to 75 feet tall, with a trunk diameter reaching 1½ feet. The trees typically grow in scattered populations rather than large groves.
