Carolus Linnaeus

Carolus Linnaeus or Carl von Linné (1707-1778) is considered the father of systematic biology. Linnaeus established a system of biological nomenclature for plants and animals, and his Species Plantarum (1753) is the starting point for the naming of plants.

Linnaeus is one of the Patron Plant Scientists whose names are inscribed on the outside walls of the BBG Administration Building.
