Growing wild in moist woodlands and along stream banks from Newfoundland to Georgia and Alabama, this upright, deciduous fern is easy to cultivate in the garden. It produces tight mats of diamond-shaped, bright green fronds with delicate, deeply lobed leaflets. Use the New York fern as an elegant groundcover, accent planting, specimen, or underplanting in any wet site in the yard.
