Squirrel's foot fern

Full to partial shade

Grow in pot
1–2 feet tall
The fuzzy, tan surface-level rhizomes of this fern are reminiscent of little squirrel feet and create a delightfully furry tangle around the rim of a container. A perfect candidate for hanging baskets, this small- to medium-size fern from Malaysia, New Guinea, and Indonesia prefers bright, indirect light and will thrive in a north-facing window. Its vibrant green, feathery fronds grow 10 to 20 inches long. Easy to care for, the squirrel's foot fern needs occasional misting and a minimum nighttime temperature of 50°F.
