GoogleServe at BBG
More than 80 Google employees volunteered at BBG on June 11 and 12 as part of GoogleServe, the company’s annual week of service during which employees are encouraged to leave the office and participate in service projects in the communities where they live and work. Google volunteers assisted BBG Horticulture staff with weeding and mulching in Cherry Esplanade, the Monocot Border, the Washington Avenue entrance, and elsewhere. Among their tasks was to give some TLC to the south end of the Osborne Garden, an area once shaded by tall silver linden trees. Twelve of those trees were knocked down by Hurricane Sandy, and this newly sunny spot required some cleanup and weeding. Because Google sent so many volunteers and committed a full two days of work, this task and several others were handily taken off BBG’s to-do list. Thank you, Google volunteers!
