Members’ Centennial Evening

On June 2, Garden members gathered for a fantastic evening to officially kick off BBG’s centennial season. Guests danced to music from the 1910s and 1920s, performed by Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra, and enjoyed picnicking and relaxing on the grass as the sun set on Cherry Esplanade. Many members came out in their Jazz Age finest to celebrate, and with a roving magician, old-fashioned treats, and unbeatable weather, it was a perfect celebration of 100 years of BBG.

A century ago, the site where BBG grows now was a city ash heap. It took the vision of BBG’s founders and the hard work of many others to make it into the premier botanic garden it is today. Learn more about the history of BBG, our Garden-wide centennial exhibition, and our calendar of centennial-themed events at BBG Celebrates 100 Years.
