Spring 2012 President’s Circle Highlights
What a spring it’s been! Between spells of unseasonable warmth, deluges of rain, and clouds and sun alternating at a dizzying pace, spring 2012 has provided enough atmospheric variations to take us on a regular botanical thrill ride. Cherries bloomed in early April, bluebells were out before May, and even BBG’s roses accelerated to peak beauty in advance of Memorial Day weekend. Our intrepid President’s Circle members made the most of the tumult as we designed events on the fly to match Mother Nature’s whims. Here’s a quick look at a few spring highlights:
Sakura Matsuri Private Preview | April 12, 2012
We toasted the early arrival of spring and heralded the Garden’s annual cherry blossom festival with Japanese-inspired spirits and snacks on the grand Cherry Esplanade.
Spring Has Sprung at BBG! | April 25, 2012
President’s Circle members enjoyed a stroll in misty Bluebell Wood. A selection of blue cheeses and blueberry desserts kept the flowers in focus as BBG curator Anne O’Neill spoke on horticulture topics from seasonal weeding to fabled bluebell fairies.
Rose Night Sneak Peek | May 16, 2012
The Cranford Rose Garden was alive with the first colorful blooms of the season at this gorgeous twilight reception featuring a Q&A with curator Sarah Owens.
But wait, there’s more! We are putting together plans for our President’s Circle Dinner on September 19 and a full schedule of fall events. Check back soon for more updates.
