Nori Company—Korean Traditional Drum & Dance

Kick up your heels and join a traditional Korean "Gil Nori" procession around the Palm House! Families can celebrate Korean Lunar New Year traditions with performances of ritual drumming, dancing, and hat-ribbon spinning that have been enjoyed in Korean farming villages for thousands of years.

Huaxia Edison Dance Troupe

Using ribbons and fans, over a dozen colorful dancers of the Huaxia Edison Dance Troupe perform Chinese folk dances with unparalleled grace. The ensemble's repertoire features "The Peacock Dance" and other work influenced by some of China's many immigrant cultures.

Qi Shu Fang Peking Opera

Qi Shu Fang is a household name in China and winner of the prestigious National Heritage Fellowship. The New York Times said about the Peking Opera star, "She fills the stage with magic that is inexpressibly enchanting." Join the celebrated ensemble for an electric performance featuring jaw-dropping makeup, music, acrobatics, martial arts, and dance.

Learn about how oranges, tangerines, and other members of the lucky citrus family are used to welcome the New Year. Kids will make their own fragrant citrus sachet to take home.

American Museum of Natural History scientists Eleanor Sterling, Martha Hurley, and Le Duc Minh are the authors of the first comprehensive volume detailing the extraordinary flora and fauna of Vietnam. Join them in an illustrated lecture about that country's uncommonly rich diversity of landscapes and wildlife. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
