Artist's Statement
Electing to work intuitively allows me to tinker with the material and conceptual process as well as explore alternative forms and shape possibilities within a particular genre of painting. As a painter, I am interested in exploring the development of pictorial structures as they are applied to graphic schemes, spontaneity, and other applicable visual systems of spatial construction. This inquisitiveness applies to emblematical as well as organically abstract possibilities. The results draw attention to the manner in which various organizing principles and artistic conventions can be employed to produce unorthodox rhythmic compositional arrangements. In the case of my current work, I typically employ common geometric shapes, patterns, and biomorphic configurations that are brought together using a somewhat random matrix.
