The recently renovated Steinhardt Conservatory Gallery is proud to open its new space with the large-scale organic work of Sarajevo native Tanja Softic. The objects in Ms. Softic's works are derived from observations of plants, botanical drawings, illustrations of animal anatomy, medical instruments, and architecture. In her work she combines the precision and order of scientific illustration with the fertile, anarchic beauty of plants. Using an earthen color palette and working in acrylic, charcoal, chalk, powdered pigments, and collage of printed elements on handmade Japanese paper, she brings together drawing, painting, and various printmaking methods. Free with Garden admission.
