Kanzan Cherry
Prunus ‘Kanzan’ on Cherry Esplanade.
The double blossoms of this cultivar were bred to have up to 28 petals each. (Cherry blossoms naturally have five petals.) Among the last to bloom, ‘Kanzan’ represents the finale of cherry blossom season.
-
Cherry Blossoms
Cherry trees usually begin to flower in early April. An individual tree may only bloom for a week or two, depending on the weather. Of course, if they were in bloom all the time, they wouldn’t be so special.
