Caroline Shadood

Caroline Shadood is a gardener, farmer, and florist based in Queens, and the creative director behind Soursop Flower Farm. She specializes in sustainability and approaches design with a reverence for nature. Her love of gardening stems from wandering community growing spaces around Bushwick, and apartment-dwelling with neglected backyards in desperate need of a makeover. Affectionately coining these “garbage backyards,” she welcomed the challenge of adapting to the harsh realities of nurturing plants amid soil pollution, pest pressure, and so much concrete. As her knowledge of gardening grew, she developed an interest in agriculture, began working at farmers’ markets around the city, and started flower farming in 2021. In 2022, she started Soursop Flower Farm. Whether in a city backyard or a rural space nearby, Caroline nurtures the proliferation of wildlife through flower production. Soursop centers respect for the land and community with every stem snipped, offering floral design, garden consultation, and cut flowers to the greater NY region.
