Steven N. Severinghaus

Steve Severinghaus is a photographer, programmer, and nature lover living in Brooklyn. The son of a mammalogist and an entomologist, he grew up in rural Illinois learning about the local fauna and flora. He studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Illinois, and has worked as a programmer since 1999. Moving to the big city in 2010 rekindled his interest in nature, and he spends his free time exploring the pockets of nature tucked between the tall buildings and busy streets. He is a volunteer photographer at the High Line, where his work has helped document the beauty of the park. He has also contributed to a number of photographic projects at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, including the 2015 calendar.
