Flora & Formality: The Victorian Portrait Reimagined

Continuing Education Classes | Art Classes

Saturday, September 13, 2025 | 1–4 p.m.
Preregistration Required

This workshop unites the Surrealist movement in art to the botanical kingdom. From the thought-provoking paintings of Rene Magritte to the beguiling portraits of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, artists have introduced the botanical world into their paintings in the most surprising ways. Working with formal, black and white, Victorian photographs and flowers from the Garden, forms will be manipulated to create strange and enchanting portraits in the Surrealist tradition.
