Cupressus arizonica Arizona cypress

Cupressus arizonica is native to southwesten North America, from western Texas and southern California through northwestern Mexico. The medium-size evergreens grow 30 to 75 feet tall, with a trunk diameter reaching 1½ feet. The trees typically grow in scattered populations rather than large groves.

Identifying Characteristics:

  1. Leaves are scalelike, no more than twice as long as wide.
  2. Branchlets are blue-green or gray-green, almost lichenlike.
