- Open early & late! Tuesday–Thursday: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. (except April 23–25, closing at 4 p.m. for ticketed Hanami Nights programming)
- Closed Tuesday, April 16
- Closed Mondays
May 14–June 30, 2024
- Open late! Tuesday & Thursday: 10 a.m.–8:30 p.m. (except June 4, closing at 4 p.m.)
- Wednesday: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Members’ Summer Evenings: Wednesdays, May 29–September 4 - Friday–Sunday: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Closed Mondays (except open Memorial Day, May 27, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.)
Cherry ‘Taoyame’
Prunus serrulata ‘Taoyame’ (flowering cherry cultivar) in the Cherry Cultivars Area.
Cuttings of this variety were sent from Japan in 1929 from a tree near the Hirano Shrine in Kyoto. Soft-pink semidouble flowers contrast with a deeper pink on the backs and edges of the petals.

Cherry Blossoms
Cherry trees usually begin to flower in early April. An individual tree may only bloom for a week or two, depending on the weather. Of course, if they were in bloom all the time, they wouldn’t be so special.
