Ancestral Ecologies Artist Talk

Join us for an artist-led tour of Ancestral Ecologies, a site-specific exhibition by artist Olalekan Jeyifous and environmental art and architecture practice AD—WO, the inaugural fellows of BBG’s new Heidi Nitze Art × Environment Fellowship.

In this walk-and-talk, learn how the artists researched and responded to distinct phenomena found in the Garden and its communities to create four multisensory installations that explore how Afrodiasporic and Latinx worldviews can inform contemporary ecological knowledge and stewardship.

Each artwork invites visitors to imagine reciprocation and kinship with nature in the spirit of animism—indigenous philosophies that recognize the vitality of all living beings and offer contrast to human-centered frameworks.
