Don’t miss our throwback Block Party celebrating 30 years of BBG’s Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest! Catch those summer-in-the-city vibes with a DJ spinning ’90s classics and a live performance by Brooklyn’s own BrownstoneJAZZ. Join in sidewalk and lawn games, enjoy food and drinks, and check out exhibits celebrating some of Brooklyn’s greenest blocks and greening heroes. Click or tap below for full-size map. All day Explore stoops and streetscapes of past Greenest Block winners, re-created right here at BBG. All day Get inspired by this portrait exhibit featuring first-person stories from Brooklynites who have turned gardening into community-building. Performances and some activities take place on grass. You may bring a blanket or stadium seat (no folding chairs, please) for the performances. Accessible seating is available for people with limited mobility. Please contact [email protected] with any accessibility-related questions or requests. 4–7 p.m. Kick off the festivities with DJ Mamoudou spinning ’90s block party nostalgia tunes to get everyone up on their feet to dance! 4–8 p.m. Make a masterpiece of your mug with prize-winning party favorites Illuminated Faces. 4–8 p.m. Join the Brooklyn Org team to unleash your inner artist with coloring pages featuring Brooklyn scenes! Come away with your own set of coloring pencils (while supplies last).
4–8 p.m. Stop by BBG’s Community Greening table to learn more about how you can help green Brooklyn. 4–8 p.m. With guidance from the Discovery Garden team, create a bracelet using naturally dyed string. See how plants from our kitchens and gardens can be transformed into a rainbow of colors. 7–8 p.m. Relax on the lawn or dance right up until the end of the Block Party to the summer-evening-perfect BrownstoneJAZZ Ensemble. 4–7 p.m. (While ice cream lasts!) Cool off with a free ice cream cone from the iconic Mister Softee Truck. Learn a few tricks and enjoy a hands-on cultural activity for all ages. 4:30 & 6 p.m Hila the Earth brings an interactive show full of costumes, music, and unbridled joy to celebrate and learn about our beautiful home planet, Earth! The audience gets to wear costumes, dance to songs about vegetables and mushrooms, and more. Perfect for families and kids of all ages! 4–7 p.m. Step into the ropes and learn to double-dutch or just watch in amazement as Elite BKLYN Jumpers show off their stuff. 4–8 p.m. The ground is your coloring book at Retro Chalk Jam, hosted by ChalkArtNYC. Check out their amazing ’90s-themed chalk designs, and don’t miss street games like hopscotch and ring toss. 4–8 p.m. (While supplies last!) Pot up a tropical plant cutting to grow at home! 4–8 p.m. BubbleDad (aka performer/educator Chris Catanese) creates a magical bubblescape featuring mesmerizing bubbles of all shapes and sizes. 4–7 p.m. Take home a memento of the day at the Block Party T‑Shirt Giveaway table.
