Celebrating the Lunar New Year

February’s tour provides an opportunity to learn about plant-related customs associated with Lunar New Year celebrations, as well as about the botanical Three Friends of Winter, widely depicted in East Asian arts, and differences between Eastern and Western gardening styles.

Over a dozen different species of flowers grace the grounds of BBG in late winter. Celebrate the transition from winter to spring by admiring petite, colorful, and sturdy blooms that are undeterred by the frosts and snows of March.
