Due to predictions of severe weather, tonight’s events are canceled. The Garden will close at 6 p.m.

Celebrate Brooklyn’s West Indian community at BBG’s fifth-annual Little Caribbean Last Lap Garden Fête. Dance along to Caribbean beats by DJs Danglez and WavyFox, featuring a soca session with guest artists Taller Dan and Big Scare. Enjoy a curated cocktail and food menu and take a free tour of tropical and Caribbean plants. Bring your flag and get ready to jump into the annual West Indian American Day parade!

Included with Garden admission.

    Join us in celebrating Caribbean plants and the fruits they bear through this creative activity. Paint a papaya, mango, soursop, or your favorite fruit!

    Free Caribbean Slushies by Allan’s Bakery

    At third-generation family-owned Allan’s Bakery, Caribbean slushies are made with the same care and tradition passed down through the generations. Each slushie is a fresh, hand-crafted taste of back home—full of tropical flavors, vibrant color, and icy refreshment. The perfect way to cool down as you wine and chip your way into Carnival weekend. While supplies last!

    Building Bridges in Caribbean Brooklyn

    Learn about the Canarsie Neighborhood Farm and Community Garden: How it came to be, how it inspires Canarsie residents, their work as an NYC GreenThumb garden (including native and invasive plant management, reforestation, and NYC’s 2040 Urban Forest Plan), and how grassroots spaces can successfully partner with organizations like the Flossy Org.

    Learn about native Caribbean trees like papaya, guava, soursop, and allspice as well as nonnative plants (like the banana) that were brought from across the globe under colonialism.

    From J’ouvert to Monday Mas!

    Join an interactive workshop on traditional Carnival & J’ouvert characters from Flag Woman to Jab Jab to Moko Jumbie. Learn about the significance of these beloved characters as they are portrayed by artists from Brooklyn’s Little Caribbean.

    Led by chantwell & cultural scholar Michael Manswell of performing arts and education organization Something Positive.
