Help Support Brooklyn Botanic Garden
As we continue to bear the significant economic impact from the COVID-19 pandemic, your generosity is critical. Thank you! Every contribution helps ensure the well-being of the Garden, the collections, our community, and staff.
What Does Your Gift Support?
Situated on 52 acres in the heart of Brooklyn, the Garden is home to over 12,000 different plant species and cultivars, including 500+ rare or endangered species. In addition, our horticulturists curate 14 specialty gardens and 5 climate-controlled plant ecosystems.
The Garden’s talented Horticulture team brings the seasons to life with dynamic displays and year-round care of the plant collections. BBG’s work is a model for leading-edge sustainability in horticulture and operations and demonstrates innovative, green practices to inspire individuals, organizations, and cities to adopt best practices for the future.
Each year, more than 130,000 people participate in BBG’s environmental and STEM education programs (offered free or at low cost) that help adults and children of all abilities develop a relationship with nature. The Education team has pivoted to developing and delivering both in-person and remote programming for the schools, students, teachers, and communities who depend on the Garden’s essential education and information services.
From the friendly faces of Visitor Services, to programmatic staff in Education, Community Greening, and Public Programs, to our teams in Horticulture, Facilities, and Security, and so many more—BBG staff are hard at work to bring the beauty, knowledge, and inspiration of the Garden to you at home and safely on-site.
Exhibits and Installations
BBG inspires and delights visitors with special exhibits and permanent on-site interpretation to tell the stories of plants and our relationship with the environment.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden reaches over 70,000 residents and community gardeners annually, providing free assistance and advice in gardening, composting, and street tree care to help strengthen communities. Community Greening has become a vital communication hub and resource point offering webinars and practical how-to blogs via BBG @ Home, and advising on special projects while connecting gardeners to free plant resources.
