Art in the Garden: Biophony SoundGarden

Art in the Garden

February 11–12, 2023 | 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m.
Live performances at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
Steinhardt Conservatory

Created by composer Ricardo Romaneiro with Metropolis Ensemble for Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s conservatories, Biophony SoundGarden is an audiovisual tapestry and light installation running in sync with plant-generated soundscapes. Explore each of the pavilions to discover a unique soundscape performed by live musicians. Together and separately, these performances tap into our breath and brain frequencies to create a connected and unified experience.

Biophony at BBG is a four-year-long series of performances; previous events took place in fall of 2021 & spring of 2022; the next will occur in the summer of 2024.

Co-commissioned by BBG and Metropolis Ensemble. Free with Garden admission.

Visit the Biophony: Soundgarden site to learn more about the day’s events and participating artists.
