    Protecting Wild Cacao in the Peruvian Jungle

    Take a journey deep into the Peruvian Amazon in search of wild cacao in this multimedia presentation. Nate Hodge recounts his adventures in the land where cacao is thought to have originated and discusses the social and economic challenges of preserving rare and wild varieties. Then get the lowdown on the bean-to-bar chocolate-making process from one of Brooklyn’s premier chocolatiers.

    5–6:30 p.m.
    Micro-batch Chocolate and Hard Cider Happy Hour

    Crack open cacao pods, nibble on nibs, and indulge in the newest virgin chocolate bars from Raaka and offerings from Descendant Cider. Groove to the sounds of rainforest frogs, insects, and birds, presented by DJ Ecotone. Peek at rare vintage cacao illustrations and peruse a cornucopia of chocolate cookbooks from Archestratus.
